Kunst is een uiting van een persoonlijkheid en een persoonlijkheid laat zich niet in een genre onderbrengen maar als stijl noem ik mijn werk geabstraheerd figuratief. Het thema "Houding–Gebaar–Gevoel", is belangrijk in mijn werk, waarin de mens bijna altijd centraal staat. Emoties toon ik eerder met kleur en materie dan met een exacte invulling van figuren. Die kenmerken zich vooral door een stilistische geabstraheerde opzet met veel zeggingskracht.Vooral niet de werkelijkheid nastreven maar de verbeelding. Een sfeer oproepen is hierin belangrijk. Een karakteristiek aspect in mijn werk is het warm en verfijnd kleurgebruik. De ondergrond speelt in het proces van het schilderen een essentiële rol. Het zijn soms doorleefde structuren, van waaruit kleurnuances naar de oppervlakte borrelen. Dat stelt mij in staat om mijn fascinatie voor poëtische, soms sacrale figuren te creëren. De ontwikkelingen van mijn manier van werken volgden elkaar de afgelopen jaren in een gestaag tempo op en het werk werd rijker aan ingetogen kleur en structuur. Op subtiele wijze komen figuratieve elementen naar voren. Veel is suggestie. Ook zou je kunnen zeggen dat mijn werk qua vormgeving in relatie staat tot de ‘primitief‘ geheten culturen. Organische tinten en dooraderde aardlagen zijn verwant aan mijn werk. Intuïtie is de basis van mijn schilderen. Ik ben een gevoelsmens en laat mij tijdens het proces leiden door wat er al is. En altijd weer is elk schilderij een momentopname. Een vertaling van een gevoel in beelden. Het is daarom dat ik ook moeilijk in series kan werken. Wel beleef ik in het maken van meerluiken een toegevoegde waarde aan het scheppingsproces. Je creëert daarmee nieuwe spanningsvelden die het beeld rijker maken. En verder heb ik geleerd dat scheppen vooral een zaak van doen is zoals het durven doorbreken van bestaande stramienen en procedures zodat ik niet klem zit in wat ik me al eigen heb gemaakt. Titels komen voort uit poëtische associaties, ze ontstaan terwijl ik werk. Een poëtische verwoording biedt ook volop ruimte aan de kijker voor een eigen interpretatie.

Art is an expression of the artist's personality, and since personalities are complex, no work can truly be fit to one specific genre. I feel my art can be best considered as "abstracted figurative". Central to my work is a theme which encompasses three different aspects of living beings. I call this theme "Pose-Gesture-Feelings" and generally include a human being in a central position. However, for me, emotions are expressed by colours and media rather than through a precise recreation of figures. My pieces are best characterised by their stylistic, abstracted but powerful design. Replacing reality with atmosphere is important, relying on colour and background layers are essential in my creation process. Organic tints and veined layers add a connection to primitive cultures. Sometimes the result is a "lived-through" structure, where colour shades bubble up to the surface, expressing my poetic fascination with the creation of sacral figures. My style has progressed over the years with the gradual addition of more colour and texture. Figurative elements arise subtly through suggestion rather than definition. Intuition forms the base of my painting. During painting, I let my sensitive nature lead me so that my paintings capture my feelings of the moment. For this reason, it is difficult for me to work on a series of similar pieces. But I do enjoy working in a multi-panel format, continually adding new tension between the fields, contributing richness to the work. Since my art is such a reflection of my feelings and emotions of the moment, I strive to break away from existing patterns and procedures and constantly move into different directions from my past accomplishments. My titles have poetic associations, arising spontaneously while I am working. My hope is that the viewer will then be able to add an individual interpretation to the piece and not be constricted by any direction my title might convey.
